CIDER MAKING AT FISHERTON
It all gets rather jolly during the months of September and October as we all make Cider! (or apple juice for the under 18's)
It's an activity that everyone can enjoy, whatever age as there are plenty of jobs to do..
First we collect baskets of apples from the orchard and by mixing all the varieties makes for the best brew. The apples are washed and the bruised parts are chopped off. The apples are then thrown slowly into the hand driven mulcher machine (an excellent workout) and chopped up into little bits and collected in a large clean container. Once full the mulch is put into the press where the juice is extracted (large man required at the end to squeeze out the very last drop available) the juice is then sieved and drunk as pure apple juice or put into sterilized demijohns for you to take home to continue the fermentation process (usually about 3 months before bottling.)

FRIDAY arrival from 3pm Tea, coffee and home made Victoria sponge cake
Supper 7.30pm Jamie Olivers Chilli Brisket served with tortilla wraps, guacomole and greek yogurt OR spagetti bolognaise with a huge garden salad and home made garlic bread. Simple dishes to serve and keep warm for late arrivals, followed by classic bbq bananas and chocolate
SATURDAY 8am Very full English breakfast, bacon, eggs, sausages,mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and homemade bread and butter
Lunch. Traditional Ploughmans with home made bread and chutney or a backpack pic nic with sandwiches or homemade pasties (if you are off on an activity to the beach /cycle trail etc)
4pm A real Devon Cream Tea, home made scones, clotted cream and our strawberry jam.
Supper 8pm Whole leg of lamb boned and butterflied, marinated in cumin, mint and greek yogurt,or garlic and rosemary, with mixed garden vegetables or garden salad and potatoes OR mixed meat bbq selection, steak, pork belly, lamb burgers or kebabs, halloumi(v) home made rolls, garden salad and jacket potatoes, followed by seasonal fruit crumble and Devon custard
SUNDAY 7.30am Muesli & fresh fruit compote, yoghurt, brioche selection. Depart at 10.30am
